Designed by Ayşe Kubilay Architecture (AKA), known for its hotel, restaurant, residential and office projects, AKA Teppanyaki Restaurant is a modern Japanese and Asian cuisine restaurant located at Gloria Serenity Resort Hotel in Antalya.
Architect Ayşe Kubilay and her team were inspired by the traditional separators of Japanese architecture called “Shoji” and “Fusuma”. Sliding translucent doors, called “fusuma” in Japanese architecture, dress some of AKA’s facades as backlit lattice style wall coverings. The combination of different materials in a layered structure in the design of the restaurant reflects the Zen philosophy. Textures such as glossy and matte wood, linen and velvet reveal the layers with the combination of backlit lattice wall panels. Pendant lights inspired by the fans used by Japanese women illuminate the tables.
The three-dimensional design of AKA’s ceiling is based on the flames that erupt during the teppanyaki show. This three-dimensional ceiling system, made of wooden and metal pipes of various sizes, also has a functional structure that hides the entire infrastructure and ventilation system.
While designing AKA restaurant, Ayşe Kubilay Architecture also emphasised the Mediterranean identity of the place and separated the three facades from the open-air areas with a glass partition. The boundaries between interior and exterior spaces are blurred, creating a fluid architectural language.
Otel, restoran, konut ve ofis projeleriyle bilinen Ayşe Kubilay Architecture (AKA) tarafından tasarlanan AKA Teppanyaki Restoran, Antalya’daki Gloria Serenity Resort Hotel içinde konumlanan modern bir Japon ve Asya mutfağı restoranı.
Mimar Ayşe Kubilay ve ekibi restoranı tasarlarken Japon mimarisinin “Shoji” ve “Fusuma” ismi verilen geleneksel separatörlerinden ilham almış. Arka aydınlatmalı kafes stili separatörler AKA’nın bazı cephelerine giydirilmiş. Restoranın tasarımında farklı malzemelerin katmanlı bir yapıda buluşması ise Zen felsefesini yansıtıyor. Parlak ve mat ahşap, keten ve kadife gibi dokular, kafes tarzı arka plan ışıklı duvar panellerin kombinasyonuyla katmanları açığa çıkartıyor. Japon kadınlarının kullandığı yelpazelerden ilham alan sarkıt aydınlatmalar ise masaları aydınlatıyor.
AKA’nın tavanını oluşturan üç boyutlu tasarım ise teppanyaki şovu sırasında çıkan alevlerden yola çıkılarak yapılmış. Farklı boyutlardaki ahşap ve metal borularla tasarlanan bu üç boyutlu tavan sistemi, aynı zamanda tüm altyapı ve havalandırma sistemini de gizleyen fonksiyonel bir kurguya sahip.
AKA’yı tasarlarken mekanın Akdenizli kimliğine de vurgu yapan Ayşe Kubilay Architecture, restoranın üç cephesini cam bölme ile açık havadaki alanlardan ayırmış. İç ve dış mekanlar arasındaki sınırlar flulaşarak akıcı bir mimari dil kurgulanmış.
