INSIDE FREDERICIA’s INTERSECTIONS
words Laura Cottrell
For this year’s edition of 3 Days of Design, Danish furniture house Fredericia invites visitors into its historic Copenhagen showroom to experience Intersections—a considered, immersive exhibition that reflects on the evolving role of design in everyday life. From June 18–20, 2025, the space becomes a site of quiet transformation, where objects speak to identity, routine, and the timeless beauty of craft.
Founded in 1911 and still family-owned, Fredericia stands as one of Danish design’s most respected institutions. Known for its enduring collaborations with visionaries like Børge Mogensen, Nanna Ditzel, Barber Osgerby, and Cecilie Manz, the brand’s legacy is defined by a dedication to quality, function, and thoughtful aesthetics. Intersectionsis both a tribute to that legacy and a glimpse into its future.

ICONIC BOOKCASE SYSTEM
Among the exhibition highlights is the much-anticipated relaunch of Mogens Koch’s iconic bookcase system—first designed in 1926 and now reissued nearly a century later with the involvement of Koch’s own family. A study in proportion, modularity, and enduring relevance, the system reaffirms the idea that great design never expires.
BENCH FOR TWO BY NANNA DITZEL
Fredericia also celebrates the inventive spirit of Nanna Ditzel with the reintroduction of her Bench for Two, now available in bold new colorways and offered as a made-to-order collector’s piece. Meanwhile, the brand’s ongoing collaboration with Barber Osgerby enters a new chapter with the debut of the Plan Wood Collection—an elegant, future-forward series of designs that the duo will personally present during the event.
Additional novelties include:
– A fresh, upholstered take on Børge Mogensen’s iconic J39 Chair.
– Tadaima x Fredericia, a capsule collection of accessories in glass and textiles, created by a Danish mother-daughter studio and expanding the Complements line.
Beyond product launches, Intersections also opens the doors to the Fredericia Solutions Lab, offering a rare behind-the-scenes look at the brand’s innovations in materials and sustainability. A standout is the Pato chair, now produced in Papershell—a biogenic material made from compressed Swedish kraft paper that burns to zero-impact ash, reducing carbon emissions by up to 90%.
Rooted in heritage yet deeply attuned to the present, Intersections reveals how Fredericia continues to shape not just furniture, but the rituals and rhythms of life.
