MUMBAI’s NEW DESIGN LANDMARK

In the heart of Mumbai’s historic mill district, a 100,000-square-foot space is quietly rewriting the rules of luxury home décor. Nilaya Anthology—created by Asian Paints, India’s leading name in paints and home design—goes far beyond the idea of a retail store. This is a curated world where craft, culture, art, and design meet, offering an immersive journey that moves from collectible furniture to heritage textiles, contemporary ceramics to rare glassware.

The vision is led by creative director Pavitra Rajaram, whose curatorial approach blends storytelling with product innovation. “We’ve created a space where India’s rich heritage of craft meets the finest contemporary design from around the world,” she says. The result is a deeply personal, globally relevant experience—one that feels as much like a gallery as a design destination.

A WORLD OF ICONS AND COLLABORATIONS

Nilaya Anthology brings together an impressive roster of Indian and international brands, many making their India debut. Among them: Cassina, Ginori 1735, House of Finn Juhl, Living Divani, Delcourt Collection, LEMA, and the coveted Nilufar Gallery by Nina Yashar—arriving in India for the first time. Each is chosen for its distinct design ethos, exceptional craftsmanship, and ability to inspire.

Specialised spaces invite visitors to discover design in unexpected ways: the Candle Library, a sensory haven of homegrown and global candle makers; The Dining Room, showcasing pottery and ceramics from around the world, some created exclusively for Nilaya Anthology; and The Cellar, a trove of antique glass finds and contemporary collectible pieces.

ART AT THE FOREFRONT

Art holds a central place in the Anthology narrative. The Sabyasachi Art Foundation makes its first public appearance here with works by Atish Mukherjee, offering a contemporary reinterpretation of the Bengal School of Art. Opening exhibitions also feature Mumbai-born, US-based photographer Priya Kambli, whose work explores family, diaspora, and memory. Vikram Goyal Studio presents limited-edition pieces that pay homage to India’s landscapes and history—like the Silken Passage in metal, inspired by the Silk Road, and the Thar Console, evoking the desert through intricate metalworking.

A CREATIVE HUB FOR PROFESSIONALS

Designed by award-winning architect Rooshad Shroff, the space extends beyond display to become a collaborative incubator. The Co-Working Space invites architects, designers, and innovators to work, connect, and ideate, while the Materials Lab offers hands-on access to rare woods, artisanal textiles, and cutting-edge surfaces—turning concepts into prototypes and ideas into realities.
