Menorca Adası’nın kuzeydoğu kıyısındaki Coves Noves’de bulunan Patio House, Alicia Casals ve Karl Nyqvist’in kurucusu olduğu Nomo Studio’nun tasarımı. Tasarım anlayışlarını “cesur öneriler ve zorlu çözümler” olarak belirleyen Nomo ekibini bu projede en çok zorlayan nokta şu olmuş: Patio House’un bulunduğu yerden görünen 10 katlı otel! Gerisini Nomo ekibinden dinleyelim: “Hem evin manzarasında görünen 10 katlı görsel engel hem de yan komşunun evinin Patio House arsasına sadece birkaç metre uzaklıkta oluşu, evin konumunu bilinçli olarak başka taraflara yönlendirmemize neden oldu. Böylece evi otel ve komşulardan izole edip deniz, orman ve bahçeyi gören manzaralara konumlandırdık”.
BEŞGEN MİMARİNİN BİR NEDENİ VAR
Mimari çözümler sadece bu kadar değil. Nomo Studio ekibi, villanın konumundan dolayı maruz kaldığı kuvvetli rüzgârları da düşünmüş. Hem rüzgârdan korunmak hem de evin güneşten faydalanabilmesi için evin genel yapısı bir beşgen olarak tasarlanmış.
Evin içine daha fazla gün ışığı girmesine izin vermek ve ilginç görsel bağlantılar oluşturmak için beşgenin çekirdeğinde yer alan bir kare de boş bırakılmış. Bu boşluk, güçlü kuzey rüzgârından korunan, güneye dönük bir veranda haline getirilmiş. Nitekim evin proje isminin kaynağı da bu nefis veranda.
PASTEL TURKUAZ ALÜMİNYUM SÜRGÜLER
Patio House’un cephe kaplamaları, beyaz badanalı duvarları ve koyu yeşil panjurları yerel balıkçı mimarisinden ilham alıyor. Pastel turkuaz rengindeki alüminyum sürgülerin büyük ölçeği ise evin kompozisyonuna net ve modern bir kimlik katıyor.
Evin iç mekanları açık renkler ve farklı eğimlere sahip yüksek tavanlara sahip. Ayrıca büyük sürgülü camlar ve kesintisiz beyaz mermer zemin, iç ve dış alan arasındaki sınırı ortadan kaldırıyor. Banyo, mutfak duvarları ve merdivenler dahil olmak üzere evin her yerinde aynı lokal mermerin kullanılması ise eve taze bir görünüm kazandırıyor.
Located in the Coves Noves on the northeast shores of Menorca Island, Patio House has been designed by Nomo Studio, founded by Alicia Casals and Karl Nyqvist. Describing their design approach as “daring suggestions and challenging solutions” the Nomo team points out the most difficult aspect of this project: 10-floor hotel seen from the location of Patio House! Let’s hear the rest from Nomo team: “Both a visual obstacle of 10-floors seen in the view from the house and the house of the next-door neighborhood being located only a couple meters away from Patio House’s land have made us steer the location of the house to other sides on purpose. Therefore, we located the house against views that see the forest and garden by isolating it from the gigantic hotel and the neighbors”.
PENTAGONAL ARCHITECTURE FOR A REASON
Architectural solutions are beyond these. The Nomo Studio team also thought about the powerful winds that the villa is exposed to due to its location. For both being protected against the wind and the house benefiting from the sun, the general structure of the house was designed to be pentagonal.
To let more sunlight inside the house and create interesting visual connections, they left a square empty, in the center of the pentagon. This empty space was turned into a veranda facing south and protected from powerful northern winds. As a matter of fact, the source for the project name of the house is this brilliant veranda.
PASTEL TURQUOISE ALUMINUM SLIDE
Facade lining, white painted walls, and dark green shades of Patio House were inspired by the local fishermen architecture. The large size of the pastel turquoise aluminum slides adds a clear and modern identity to the composition of the house.
Indoors of the house has bright colors and high ceilings with different slopes. Moreover, windows with large slides and an uninterrupted white marble floor remove the boundaries between the interior and exterior spaces. The use of the same local marble all over the house, including in the bathroom, kitchen walls, and stairs, gives a fresh look to the house.
