ACROSS TWO MILAN STAGES

During Milan Design Week 2026, Istanbul-based USLU Design Studio presents its debut collection, Disco House, across two parallel settings: SaloneSatellite and Alcova.

Founded by interior architect and designer Alp Usluduran, the studio extends an architectural way of thinking into furniture—approaching objects not as standalone pieces, but as part of a larger spatial system.

RHYTHM, ATMOSPHERE, SPACE

At its core, Disco House explores the relationship between music and architecture. As Usluduran puts it, music moves through time while architecture moves through space—both shaping emotion through rhythm. Here, that rhythm becomes atmosphere, and atmosphere, in turn, becomes space.

The collection draws from the late 1970s, revisiting the high-gloss, hedonistic energy of the disco era. Yet rather than nostalgia, it proposes a contemporary reading—placing that expressive, liberated spirit against today’s more controlled and comfort-driven modes of living. The result is a language that is at once playful and composed, polished yet slightly irreverent.

Rather than a conventional furniture line-up, Disco House reads as a scenario for living. Each piece carries a distinct character:

The Cuban, a cabinet that moves between cigar culture and sound systems;
The Laidback, an armchair that sits slightly apart, observing rather than participating;
The Unifier, which draws people together;
The Bubbly, a luminous champagne table that amplifies both light and conversation;
The Socialite, a dining and drinks table that naturally becomes the centre of the room;
and The Whisper, a quieter, more intimate presence within the setting.

TWO SETTING, ONE LANGUAGE

The dual presentation across Milan reinforces this narrative.

At SaloneSatellite—held from 21 to 26 April within Salone del Mobile—the full collection is presented, marking the studio’s first appearance on the international stage. The platform, dedicated to designers under 35, situates USLU Design Studio within a new generation of emerging voices.

In parallel, Alcova offers a more atmospheric interpretation. Set within the raw, unfinished spaces of the Baggio Military Hospital, a selection of pieces is staged as an installation, allowing the collection to unfold spatially and scenographically.

Together, the two presentations position Disco House somewhere between object and environment—less a collection to be viewed, and more a setting to be entered.
