Bandido's new collection FASE
Mexican studio Bandido's new lighting collection "FASE" (meaning "Phase" in Spanish) interprets the lunar geometry where light and shadow intersect from a modern perspective. The balance between onyx, which absorbs and emits light, the curvature of the material reminiscent of the curvature of the moon, and the brass and steel that connects each element in space, reflect the phases of the lunar cycle that inspired the collection. All pieces in the collection are handmade in Puebla, Mexico.

What is the concept behind the new FASE collection?
The moon has accompanied us throughout our human existence, orbiting around our planet. From Earth we perceive this lunar cycle through different phases (“Fases” in Spanish), which generate a faint flash from sunlight reflection. Each Lunar PHASE is made up of light and shadow contrast, a duality that mixes in an endless light cycle. The curvature of the moon is outlined by light flashes and the darkness of the shadows that interposed inspired this collection.
What colors and materials were used in this collection and why?
Within this collection we used onyx that absorbs and spreads light through its veining. This material is similar to the lunar crust, which spreads and reflects sunlight throughout the cosmos when it receives it. The variation of curves, veins and depths present in the onyx brings to the collection a cycle of lunar phases that play with the duality of light from different perspectives. Brass and metal connect and suspend each element harmoniously in space. One material absorbs and emits light while the other reflects it, taking into account the duality that we find in this lunar cycle.
