We spoke with Tolis Koumparos from 2nd Floor to learn more. How would you describe Hipsters’ style? The hotel is housed in a historic neoclassical building designed by Jacques Moshe in 1925, making it architecturally significant. Drawing from this rich heritage, we integrated industrial and modern design elements alongside original artworks. It’s more than just a hotel—it’s an experience. Every detail tells a story. The moment you step inside, you’re immersed in art, design, and culture. THE MOST IMPORTANT FEATURE OF THE TURKISH RIVIERA While cruising in Fethiye Bay, you can cook on the boat or spend some lazy time at restaurants only accessible by the sea. This is a feature that distinguishes the Turkish Riviera from most places in the world. Let me put it this way: Sometimes we make reservations in advance and anchor ashore to go to dinner. Parking fee is included in the meal. It’s the same everywhere. It’s also a sign of respect. You come to their pier, use their services on the shore and dine. Another unique feature is the opportunity to swim in the pier’s crystal clear water and sail alongside the anchored yachts. So you see other people and boats, but you still feel the wild bay thanks to the sense of freedom and beauty around you. That is what makes this magical place special. That is why you want to come back to Göcek even after seeing many countries and continents. WHEN THERE IS A GOOD WIND... Kapı Deresi, Adaia Göcek, Zeytin Restaurant, Onno Bar, and other venues are hidden among pine trees and located close to each other. Sometimes yachtsmen do not cross the Göcek Bay border and prefer to spend the whole week here. But at a time of the year, when there is a good wind for a first-class sail, great opportunities occur. If you do not have time for such a long route yet still want to meet the ancient history, you can go to Gemiler Island (St. Nicholas Island). Anchor on the north side of the island to see the ruins of the ancient city and the view of tempting turquoise sea water. There is a lighthouse at the top of the island, the perfect place to watch the sunset! You can see Babadag and Oludeniz in the east, and the turtle-shaped Karacaoren island in the west. Not many people know this secret spot. A few decades ago, a fishermen’s family started to serve dinner here welcoming yachtsmen from all over the world with Turkish hospitality. All this continues today. TO SOCIALIZE ON THE LAND... - The life of an anchorite staying on a boat can change by going outside! Because, this is also the headquarters of the non-profit Villa Lena art foundation, which supports international artists. Offering a space for artists, writers, designers, producers, musicians and chefs to discover their own crafts, Villa Lena is also an “agriturismo” hotel. Agriturismo is a very common type of tourism in Italy, especially in Tuscany. In “agriturismo”, which brings together agriculture and tourism, you have the opportunity to stay in magnificent farmhouses in the middle of nature. These farmhouses have either vineyards or olive groves. Thus, during your stay, you can taste the farm’s own production of wines, olives and cheeses. Built for an aristocratic family, the villa lives its heyday until the 1930s. It is then left into disrepair. In 2007, art world professional Lena Evstafyeva, musician-producer Jérôme Hadey and Parisian restaurateur Lionel Bensemoun bought the villa and founded the Villa Lena Agriturismo and Art Foundation. The main building now houses the arts foundation and artist-in-residence program. Uçak boş olur sanıyordum ama tamamen doluydu. THY çok temiz diyebilirim. Çok dikkatli davranıyorlar. Maske kontrolü gayet düzgündü mesela. Meksika PCR testi istemiyor. Bu nedenle biraz tedirgin oldum açıkçası. Burası “Covidfreeland” diyebilirim. Herkes tamamen yaz havasında. Tıpkı geçtiğimiz yaz Çeşme’de bizim olduğumuz gibi… Otel ve restoranlarda kontrol var. Ateş ölçme, maske, vesaire. Çalışanların hepsi maskeli. Her masada dezenfektan var. Mağazalara maskesiz giremiyorsun. Ama plajda kimse maske takmıyor. Mağazaların olduğu caddede herkes maskeli. Ben hep Sanara’da kalıyorum. Geçen sefer de burada kalmıştım. Çünkü en güzel yoga stüdyosu burada. New York’tan çok iyi yoga hocaları geliyor. Her sabah ve her akşam ders var. Sebze ağırlıklı bir restoranları var. Sahibi Malibulu bir çift. Mutfak tamamen ‘healing’e yönelik. Be Tulum’un yemeği inanılmaz. Hem öğle hem akşam için ortamı çok güzel. Itzki ve Arca diye iki mekan denedim. İkisi de lezzetliydi. “Atila” diye minicik bir bar var plajın üzerinde. Aksamüstü margaritası inanılmaz! Bu yıl Bagatelle açılmış. Sadece uğradım. Dekoru çok güzeldi ama bence çok St. Tropez havası olmuş. Yakışmamış buranın bohem ortamına. Los Bowls kahvaltı için çok tatlı bir mekan. Matchamama da değişmemiş, çok güzeldi yine…

All rooms and suites are very spacious. Be sure to swim at the Patmos Aktis beach and dine at the Plefsis Tavern. Petra Bay, just in front of Patmos Aktis, catches the eye with the beauty of its sea. There is a shabby bar-restaurant here. But be careful, the toilets are terrible! Plaki beach on the south side of Petra is the favorite of nudists. SKALA The biggest village on the island. Long-time vacationers and "hangovers" all meet at Houston in the square and have brunch. The Patmians is another social gathering place right next to Houston. It is essential to go to Ginger and Kasbah late at night. Kasbah, in particular, is famous for its after-parties that start after 3 a.m. Benetos, in the quiet bay of Sapsila, just outside Skala, is a popular 14-table restaurant opened by Susan Matthaiou in the summer of '97. Reservations by phone. Benetos also has a restaurant in Chora. KAMPOS At the far end of this region is a lovely bay, Geranos (Livadi Geranou). Geranos is one of the most beautiful beaches on the island. In Kampos Bay, our favorites are two different places: The first one is a beach club, Atmos. More comfortable and stylish. The other one is more bohemian, Sea Sun. The restaurant on Lampi Beach is one of our favorites for lunch. This restaurant serves fresh seafood and you should try the lobster noodles. PSILI AMMOS This is probably one of the most difficult places to reach on the island. You reach at a certain point with your car or motorcycle, the rest is a 40-minute walk! What awaits you when you reach Psili Ammos by passing the hills is a beautiful beach, a sea often wavy, and a cute restaurant with especially great french fries and meatballs. LEFKES There is a secret paradise where everyone goes at sunset. It's called Lefkes. On this beach there's a bar made of caravans. They only serve ouzo and wine. And fries and calamari! But when you see the sunset, you don't want anything else. One warning: There are no toilets here. You should come accordingly. The homeowner couple in the leading role of this story were living in Barcelona at the time and decided to buy this place in the summer of 2020. Afterwards everything was very fast. A few months later, the couple left Barcelona with their two daughters and settled in Montisi, a town with a population of 300. MORE FRESCOES EMERGE Dating back to the 14th century, Umberto 121 is undergoing a renovation process, preserving its original architecture and features reflecting different periods, in line with the passion and guidance of its new homeowners. First of all, the house is cleared of unnecessary elements which were added in recent years. Thus, frescoes from 1800 and mosaics from 1930 become more visible. Then, the rooms and common areas are renovated with attention to detail. The original doors, floors, exposed beams and 19th-century frescoes remain untouched. As a matter of fact, the homeowners, who saw that only the walls of two rooms were covered with frescoes when they bought the house, begin to unearth more and more frescoes day by day. Çünkü otelin tek bir boş günü yoktu. Yetmedi, sezonu kasım başına dek uzattılar. St Barths, St Tropez ve Cannes’dan sonra D Maris içine açılmış havalı Fransız restoranı La Guerite de her öğleden sonra dolup taştı… Bir estetik detayla sonlandıralım: D Maris’in iç tasarımı mimar Hasan Mingü’ye ait. Biblos Resort / Alaçatı - Çeşme 600’e yakın coconut ağacı, farklı türlerdeki 1000’e yakın palmiyesi, onlarca farklı bitki çeşidiyle en başta bir botanik park gibi Biblos Resort. Sırf bu yönüyle bile görülmeye değer. “Alaçatı’nın Mandarin Orieantal”i konumundaki otelin Amante adlı restoranı, masaj süiti dahi bulunan spa’sı ve “tarladan sofraya” felsefesini benimsemiş, yüzyıllık zeytin ağaçlarının altındaki yeni restoranı Olea; bu yaz cazibe merkeziydi. Üstelik her biri özenle restore edilmiş. Simurg Inn / Ahmetçe- Ayvacık Bu yıl izole olma yılıydı. Bu nedenle doğayla baş başa kalınabilecek hem izole hem de konforlu butik oteller baş tacı edildi. Kaz Dağları’ndaki Simurg Inn onların en popüleriydi kuşkusuz. Gerçek anlamda ekolojik bir tatil de vaat ediyordu üstelik: Yemekteki malzemeler otelin bahçesinden toplanıyor, zeytinler ve zeytinyağı yine otelin zeytin ağaçlarından üretiliyordu. Beş deluxe oda ve üç taş ev ile hizmet veren Simurg Inn’in kuşkusuz en büyük avantajlarından biri de manzarası… The Stay Alaçatı Warehouse / Alaçatı - Çeşme 80’li yıllarda depo olarak kullanılmış eski bir yapının otele dönüştürülmüş hali olan The Stay Alaçatı Warehouse’un 24 odası var. Odalardaki ahşap detaylar ve her odaya başka bir versiyonu konulmuş nü fotoğraflar en çok dikkat çeken detaylar. Geniş lounge bölümünde tiyatro gösterileri de yapılan oteldeki tüm ahşap oturma grupları Haldun Demirhisar’ın elinden çıkma. Kabak Dome / Faralya - Fethiye Bu yaz açılan Kabak Dome, jeodezik kubbe şeklinde yapılmış mimarisi ve Kabak Koyu’na bakan odalarıyla dikkatleri üzerine çekti. Otelin genel konsepti gereği odalar doğal malzeme ve yöntemlerle hazırlanmış kerpiç sıvadan yapılmış.
