A MINIMALIST PAUSE IN TIME

Geçen yaz Patmos’tan dönerken uğradığım Samos karşısında ilk şaşkınlığım şu olmuştu: Sandığımdan daha büyük bir ada oluşu ve beklenmedik kalitede butik oteller barındırması. Onlardan biri de geçen yaz açılan Casa Cook. Otel meraklıları bilir; Casa Cook’un modern minimal tarzı çok belirgindir. Bu tarzın ana unsuru da orta ve daha koyu toprak tonlarıdır. Tekstilden ahşaba tüm malzemeler bu renklerden seçilir ve ona göre “büyük resim” oluşur. Bu nedenle Casa Cook’larda kalırken gereksiz ayrıntılarla gözünüz yorulmaz. 128 odalı Casa Cook Samos’un plaj restoranı The Beachouse ise “arkadaşlarla bir araya gelmek” anlamına gelen Yunanca kelime “Paréa”dan esinlenerek tasarlanmış. Casa Cook Samos’un sahibi Orestis Valis şöyle diyor: “Yaptığımız her şeyin merkezinde Paréa var. Akdeniz kültüründe Paréa; fikirlerini ve yaşam deneyimlerini paylaşmak için düzenli olarak bir araya gelen arkadaş grubuna verilen isim. Bu topluluk buluşması hem dostlukların gelişmesini hem de yaşam kalitesini zenginleştirecek fikirlerin keşfedilmesini sağlar”.
Orestis Valis, otelin tasarımında Samos köylerinde bulunan geleneksel Yunan evlerinden ya da Kamares’ten esinlendiklerini söylüyor. “Gerçekçi ve kapsayıcı bir alan yaratmak istedik. Her Casa Cook oteli, bulunduğu yerin çevresinden ilham alan bireysel bir tasarım diliyle ortaya çıkıyor”.
My first surprise at Samos when I was returning from Patmos last
summer was that it was a bigger island than I imagined and had unexpectedly high-quality boutique hotels. One of them is Casa Cook, which opened last summer.
Hotel enthusiasts know that the modern minimal style of Casa Cook is very evident. The main element of this style is medium and darker earth tones. All materials from textile to wood are selected from these colors and the “big picture” is formed accordingly. Therefore, you will not get exhausted by unnecessary details while staying at Casa Cooks. Everything from rooms to restaurants is straight and clean. There are also light-shadow plays that vary according to daylight, which is great for the photography enthusiast.

Two of the Casa Cooks, founded by Remo Masala and acquired by Hong Kong-based tourism group Fosun Tourism Group in 2019, are in Egypt (El Gouna and North Coast), while the others are in Mykonos and Rhodes. The latest Casa Cook, in Samos, was designed by Athens-based architecture and design firm Block722.
The Beachouse, the beach restaurant of the 128-room Casa Cook Samos, was inspired by the Greek word “Paréa”, which means “getting together with friends”. “Paréa is at the heart of everything we do,” says Orestis Valis, the owner of Casa Cook Samos. “In Mediterranean culture, Paréa is the name given to a group of friends who meet regularly to share their ideas and life experiences. This community meeting enables both the development of friendships and the discovery of ideas that will enrich the quality of life”.
Orestis Valis states that the hotel’s design was inspired by the traditional Greek houses in the villages of Samos or Kamares. “We aimed to create a realistic and inclusive space. Every Casa Cook hotel appears with an individual design language inspired by the surroundings of its location”.
