L’APPARTAMENTO RETURNS

During Milan Design Week, Artemest returns to Palazzo Donizetti with the fourth edition of L’Appartamento. Repositioning craft within a contemporary spatial narrative, the exhibition remains one of the week’s quieter highlights.

A GRAND TOUR, REFRAMED
This year’s edition is shaped around the idea of “Italian grandeur”. Not as surface-level opulence, but as something quieter—expressed through atmosphere, memory, and detail. Drawing on the spirit of the Grand Tour, it unfolds as a sequence of interiors moving between Venice, Naples, Rome, Palermo and Florence. The approach continues Artemest’s evolving exhibition language—one that moves fluidly between past and present.
As founders Marco Credendino and Ippolita Rostagno shared with YUZU, L’Appartamento was conceived to place craftsmanship within lived environments. Objects are not presented in isolation, but as part of complete interiors—each room carrying its own narrative.
ROOMS, REINTERPRETED
Within this framework, five international studios reinterpret different rooms of the palazzo.
Sasha Adler Design approaches the entrance and reading room through a Venetian lens, balancing ornament with restraint. Rockwell Group introduces a more animated, social energy to the dining room, drawing from Naples’ layered cultural life. March and White Design (MAWD) interprets Rome through the living room, shaping a space where structure and emotion coexist. Charlap Hyman & Herrero look to Palermo for the entertainment rooms, translating the spirit of 19th-century salons into a more atmospheric setting. Urijowan Alsharif Interiors completes the sequence with a bedroom inspired by Florence, expressed through a softer sense of proportion and harmony.
For the first time, the exhibition extends outdoors. A carefully composed courtyard expands the experience beyond the interiors, softening the boundary between inside and out.
