RESIDENCE MICHELLE: a CURATED LIFE

In the leafy enclave of Sint-Pieters-Woluwe, Brussels, Residence Michelle is more than a home—it’s a quietly refined dialogue between architecture, art, and life. Designed by Belgian architect Merijn Degraeve in close collaboration with the fashion-savvy homeowner, the apartment pays tribute to its original bones while creating space for a contemporary way of living. Every room is a lived-in gallery—personal, precise, and full of intentional contrasts.

Shaped by an L-shaped layout and a rounded entrance hall, the home flows with a soft sense of movement. A tactile material palette—Campanelli Rosso marble, lacquered walnut, herringbone wood floors, and lime-treated kitchen stone—brings warm tension to the space. It's a home that feels luxurious yet grounded.

In the living and dining areas, Degraeve balances modernist rigor with playful eclecticism. A golden-shelved library conceals a doorway; Quaderna dining tables and deep green chairs add sculptural weight. Signature pieces like the Atollo lamp and Utrecht chair echo the owners’ love for Italian vintage design, blending seamlessly with contemporary choices.

The kitchen stands apart from today’s open-plan tropes. Designed in collaboration with Abimis, its stainless steel core is softened by lacquered fronts and oak cabinetry. Outside, a lush terrace extends the intimacy, offering a moment of pause among the greenery.

The private quarters echo the same thoughtful restraint. A once-narrow bedroom now opens into a moody en-suite and dressing area, where curved walls, shadow play, and tactile finishes slow the pace. A vintage-inspired vanity and the floating Tekio pendant by Santa & Cole offer subtle nods to the owner's fashion roots.
