POPS of COLOR and a MID-CENTURY MODERN TWIST

Sleek and cozy in West Coast style, this home belongs to Sha Wang, principal and founder of Atelier Fēn. "While our house may not showcase a breathtaking ocean view, it offers something truly special and even more enchanting – a delightful and charming creek! I can hear the gentle flow of water, and being surrounded by a lot of trees and birds creates this magical atmosphere,” says Wang.
Wang experimented with different combinations of textures and colors in her West Vancouver home: "Designing my own home was a more complex process because I tend to overthink, and I made my choices more carefully because of my pursuit of perfection. As a designer, I am aware of a wide range of design possibilities and styles, which made it difficult to narrow down the options and determine a specific design direction for my home”.
Wang's home epitomizes the 1960s farmhouse style. It is distinguished by its simple and uncluttered design elements.
DETAILS
- Living room: The interior designer retained the distinctive textured lace pattern ceiling, as she finds it to be truly unique. She also used a USM cabinet to provide ample storage space.
- Dining Room: Wanting to blend indoors and outdoors, Sha chose a Phillip Jeffries linen wallcovering in a subtle shade of green to match the view from the terrace. The addition of orange velvet curtains gives the room a warm and robust texture.
- Kitchen: "I've always dreamed of having a white kitchen with white oak elements," says Sha. "Even though it's not fashionable, the feeling it gives me is calm, warm and timeless”.
