CURATED LIVING: AM COLLECTIVE REDEFINES the GALLERY
words Laura Cottrell

In a time when the design world is rethinking its spaces, rhythms, and rituals, Amanda Pratt’s newly rebranded AM Collective offers a compelling model for what a contemporary gallery can be. Formerly known as Salon Design, the gallery has not only changed its name but reshaped its entire identity—moving into a 2,600-square-foot townhouse in New York’s West Village and reopening as Villa AM, a living, breathing home for collectible design.
Villa AM officially opened its doors on April 24, inviting visitors into a reimagined gallery space that feels more like a thoughtfully designed home than a traditional showroom. Conceived as a more intimate setting, it allows guests to connect with design objects in a lived-in environment—one that reflects how design is increasingly woven into daily life, especially in the U.S., where the appetite for meaningful design is growing.
“We’re seeing a shift in how people want to engage with design,” says founder Amanda Pratt, a former investment banker turned interior designer and art advisor. “There’s something deeply human about living with objects that tell a story, and that’s exactly what AM Collective is about.”

A NEW KIND OF GALLERY EXPERIENCE
Unlike traditional white-cube galleries, AM Collective embraces the storytelling power of design. Here, salon-style presentations replace solo shows, and collections debut in spaces designed for conversation and connection. The gallery’s programming is built around launches, limited editions, collaborations, and site-specific works, all carefully selected for their material intelligence and emotional resonance.
Roughly 80% of AM Collective’s featured artists and designers identify as women—a statistic that speaks volumes about Pratt’s mission to support under-recognized voices in contemporary design. From textile innovators in Berlin to experimental lighting designers in Australia, each contributor is united by a commitment to craftsmanship and exploration.
A HOME WHERE EVERTHING IS FOR SALE
And yes—everything inside Villa AM is shoppable. Whether it’s a sculptural light fixture or a custom textile, each piece is displayed in a way that honors its function and beauty within a living space.
INTO THE COURTYARD: DISCOVER ARTIFACTS
On May 17, Villa AM expands its vision outdoors with the unveiling of its inaugural sculpture garden installation, Artifacts. Curated by Cola Studios, the creative duo founded by Sam Colamussi and Olya Dmitrieva, this evocative exhibition transforms the villa’s courtyard garden into a poetic, open-air stage. Featuring works by Ian Love, Cory Mahoney, Mamoun Nakumanu, and others, the sculptures appear like relics unearthed from a forgotten civilization—strange, enigmatic forms that seem to have always belonged to the landscape, patiently waiting to be discovered.
