On view from April 1 to July 6, 2025, this marks the artist’s first institutional solo exhibition in the city — arriving at just the right moment to offer space for reflection, identity, and memory amid a fast-paced, image-saturated art scene. Curated by Caroline Corbetta, terrone is more than a retrospective — it’s a deeply personal, intimate, and timely exploration of Ugo Rondinone’s Italian heritage and the universal experiences of displacement and migration. Born in Switzerland to Italian parents from Matera, and based in New York since the late 1990s, Rondinone boldly reclaims terrone — a historically charged, often derogatory term for southern Italians — and transforms it into a symbol of belonging, resilience, and memory. In a city like Milan — long a magnet for internal migration and social transformation — Rondinone responds to this iconic image with works that echo the stories of countless Italian migrants, including that of his own family. Through sculptures, installations, and text-based pieces, terrone extends the themes of The Fourth Estate, adding personal, poetic, and even spiritual layers to the ongoing conversation around identity, migration, and collective memory. What makes this exhibition particularly resonant is the bridge it builds between Rondinone’s contemporary practice and GAM’s classical collection. This is not a contrast for contrast’s sake, but an emotionally charged dialogue in which past and present coexist, confront, and enrich one another. It recalls curatorial approaches seen in European institutions like Vienna’s Belvedere or Paris’s Petit Palais, where contemporary art is meaningfully placed within historic settings. PEACEFUL CITIZEN IN SELIMIYE S elimiye side of Marmaris in the south of Turkiye is different in every way. Because it is like a true epitome of calmness and peace. Imagine completing this peaceful image with Bozburun and Söğüt behind Selimiye! Even sipping your wine against the sunset... The house project designed by Studio86 Interiors, called ‘S House’ for short, stands right in the centre of this image! The design of the three-storey S House is quite the opposite. Because it has an urban atmosphere. Studio86 Interiors team of Betül - Furkan Çöloğlu and Başak Doyum summarises the reason for this different design approach as follows: “The contrast we created by bringing a modern bohemian design approach to the peaceful and natural landscape of Selimiye was a result of our desire to reflect the unique character of the city. The libertarian spirit and creative expression of bohemian aesthetics contrasted with Selimiye's traditional coastal city identity, emphasising the impressive aspect of the place. This contrast emphasizes the identity of the city while offering an innovative perspective”. ALL PRODUCTS ARE CHARACTERISED AS DECORATIVE OBJECTS The natural warmth of the wood and white tones stand out in the home's color palette. The light tones in the furniture and textile choices complement the texture of the wood and shape the aesthetic integrity of the interior. All products preferred in lighting design are characterised as decorative objects. Direct and indirect lighting solutions offered by furniture and decorative elements have a lighting scheme that supports the characteristic features of the space.

Cuixmala in Jalisco, Mexico, is Sir James Goldsmith's former estate, transformed by Alix Marcaccini into a hotel with villas, casitas and a nature reserve. September 2, 2026 | Travel a PRIVATE WORLD on the PACIFIC words Noah Mercer photos Davis Gerber Forget the usual idea of a “dream hotel”. Cuixmala operates on an entirely different scale. Set along five kilometres of Mexico’s Pacific coastline, the estate extends across an immense landscape, with a 30,000-acre nature reserve that is home to approximately 12,000 plant species and a remarkable variety of wildlife — including its now-famous zebras. Across the property, Cuixmala unfolds as a collection of distinct places to stay. Casa Cuixmala brings together suites and bungalows, while the Casas comprise three private villas — Casa Alborada, Casa La Playa and Casa Torre. The Casitas reinterpret the traditional Mexican house in a more contemporary language, with ten residences overlooking the ocean and accommodating different numbers of guests. THE STORY BEHIND THE ARCHITECTURE Cuixmala’s unusual mix of Mexican, European and Moroccan influences has much to do with its origins. The estate was once the private home of British-French billionaire and politician Sir James Goldsmith, who died in 1997. A few years later, it was transformed into a hotel by his daughter Alix Marcaccini, although members of the Goldsmith family still maintain private homes on the property. Goldsmith led an unconventional life. Married three times and the father of eight children, he also had a number of long-term relationships. Marcaccini has described family as deeply important to her father despite the atypical structure of his life. Her mother, Lady Annabel Goldsmith, is also closely associated with another well-known institution: London members’ club Annabel’s was named after her. THE ZEBRAS OF CUIXMALA During the years when Goldsmith used Cuixmala as a private estate, its guest list included presidents, prime ministers, business figures and cultural personalities. Ronald Reagan, Henry Kissinger and Richard Nixon were among those who visited. One guest, however, remains unidentified: the person said to have given Goldsmith a pair of African zebras. Their descendants still roam the estate today, with the herd having grown to around 40. CONSERVATION FROM THE BEGINNING Environmental conservation was part of Goldsmith’s vision for Cuixmala long before sustainability became a standard part of the hospitality conversation. The surrounding landscape remains central to the experience of the estate. Zebras and other introduced species live alongside the region’s native wildlife, including jaguars and pumas, within a vast protected environment where nature is given as much space as possible. WHERE IS CUIXMALA? Cuixmala is located on Costa Alegre in the Mexican state of Jalisco, between Puerto Vallarta and Manzanillo. Puerto Vallarta is around three hours away by car, while Manzanillo can be reached in approximately 75 minutes. The estate feels deliberately remote, but a drive of around half an hour along the coast leads to Careyes, the colourful resort community known for its restaurants, clubs and distinctive architecture.

Milo Apartment in Colmar transforms a 112-year-old building into a modern loft by OZA Design, founded by Özge Öztürk and Alexandre Simeray. But that’s not all. Colmar is also known as the home of artists such as Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi, who, in collaboration with Gustave Eiffel (the French engineer behind the Eiffel Tower), designed the famous Statue of Liberty. And here, in a home that seems to contrast with the romantic atmosphere of the town yet pays homage to its craftsmanship heritage, we find ourselves in the Milo Apartment project—reminiscent of New York lofts. The apartment's transformation, designed by London-based OZA Design, founded by Özge Öztürk and Alexandre Simeray, tells a striking “before-and-after” story. “The shock we felt when we first saw the apartment became the starting point of the design process,” Özge and Alexandre share. “What we encountered was a 112-year-old historic building that had been converted into an office. At first glance, it was a space that had lost its soul: carpet tiles, PVC ceiling panels, and fragmented partitions. My initial reaction was, ‘This is a lost cause.’ But this challenge only motivated us further! When my partner Alexandre visited the space, he called me and said, ‘You won’t believe it, but this project has incredible potential.’ That was the moment when the design’s story started to form in our minds. Our respect for the building’s history, original texture, and spirit became the inspiration for giving it a modern identity. We focused on preserving the historic traces in every detail while creating a timeless aesthetic. What initially seemed like a distant dream eventually turned into an exciting design journey.” ELEGANCE IN RIGIDITY Özge and Alexandre reveal that the primary inspiration for the design process was Colmar itself: “The design process began with the rich historical fabric of Colmar. Gustave Eiffel and Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi, with the powerful stories they contributed to this region’s heritage, were our sources of inspiration. The ironwork in the apartment was chosen to blend Eiffel’s engineering marvels with Bartholdi’s artistic elegance. We aimed to create a language where these two distinct geniuses intersected: an elegance within rigidity, an aesthetic within functionality! While walking through the streets of Colmar, we were drawn to the iron forms and architectural details of the buildings, which became fundamental elements guiding the design.” Özge and Alexandre emphasize that Colmar’s artisans were at the heart of the project: “We saw every piece not just as an object but as an artwork that nourished the soul of the space. By collaborating directly with local blacksmiths, carpenters, and ceramic artists, we infused the region’s character into the design. Each artisan contributed their unique touch, adding a distinctive story to the space. The lighting, for instance, was designed to mimic the warm yet sophisticated atmosphere of Colmar’s evening light. This approach deepened the meaning of the design and allowed us to establish an organic connection between the space and its surroundings.” TIMELESS MODERNITY The OZA Design duo describes the apartment’s design as timeless modernity: “Industrial modern chic might define one aspect of the design, but we aimed to give the project a multi-layered identity. We created a dialogue between minimalist lines, crafted iron details, and natural textures. By blending Colmar’s nostalgic spirit with contemporary design elements, we forged a language that honors the past while focusing on the future.” HIGHLIGHTS - Hidden storage solutions throughout the apartment maintain a clean and organized look. Above the guest suite, an 80-square-meter storage area is concealed behind mirrors that add light and depth to the space. - The reading lamps in the guest room were inspired by the Orient Express. - Black-stained wood contrasts with white plaster wall finishes, directly referencing the town’s coal industry heritage. - OZA Design collaborated with local art gallery Murmure to curate artwork that complements the project. CI Bloom 2025 returns to Istanbul for its fourth edition with 26 galleries, four art initiatives, and an Artwide auction for emerging artists. April 2025 | Art & Culture TR BELOW SPRING MEETS ART in ISTANBUL: CI Bloom Known as the younger and more local version of Istanbul’s only modern art fair, Contemporary Istanbul, CI Bloom is returning for its fourth edition between April 16–20, at the Rumeli Hall of Lutfi Kırdar Convention and Exhibition Center. Highlighting emerging and rising artists each year, this year’s CI Bloom will host 26 galleries and four art initiatives. We asked Rabia Güreli our questions about CI Bloom. FOCUSING ON YOUNG AND DISTINCTIVE ARTISTS What defines the spirit and character of CI Bloom, and how does it differ from Contemporary Istanbul? CI Bloom has a young and dynamic spirit! It’s a fresh fair that energizes the contemporary art scene in Turkey and brings a new perspective internationally. While Contemporary Istanbul is a much larger platform, CI Bloom is more compact and focuses specifically on young and distinctive artists. Our goal with CI Bloom is to continue developing the fair at this level and connect with more emerging artists and initiatives each year. And with every edition, we continue to build on this. How has CI Bloom changed and evolved since its first edition? What is your vision for the near future? From day one, we’ve prioritized dynamism in CI Bloom. Every year, we make a point to welcome young and emerging artists, as well as global media and art professionals. Our aim is to create a more active and increasingly interactive fair year after year. We’re open to collaborations, which also allows us to make quick decisions. From its very first edition, CI Bloom has been structured to energize the art market and support non-profit organizations — and we continue with that same mission this year. A NEW MODEL THROUGH COLLABORATION WITH ARTWIDE One of the highlights of this year’s CI Bloom is the collaboration with online auction platform Artwide. What is the goal of this partnership? Our collaboration with Artwide is a significant one. Just like the other partnerships we’ve developed with various brands — they all contribute to the growth of the arts. Through these collaborations, art reaches wider audiences. And reaching more viewers means more interaction. This marks our first collaboration with the global online auction platform Artwide. In a special online auction, selected works by artists participating in CI Bloom — other than those exhibited at the fair — will be put up for sale. For us, this represents an innovative model. It’s aimed at increasing visibility, expanding sales opportunities, and connecting collectors from around the world with new artists. Staying true to its nomadic spirit, the Istanbul Biennial once again reimagines the relationship between art and the city, weaving Istanbul’s streets, buildings, and public spaces into its very fabric. WALKING THE CITY The route offers a fluid experience, allowing visitors to move easily on foot and encounter art in the rhythm of the city. Among the venues is the Greek Primary School of Galata, restored between 2019 and 2024, and now reopening as a biennial space. In Karaköy, the newly revived Zihni Han makes its public debut, while a ground-floor gallery at No. 35 Meclis-i Mebusan Avenue reemerges as a cultural stop, having once been part of the 3rd Istanbul Design Biennial. Nearby, the early 20th-century Muradiye Han joins the route after its recent restoration, alongside Gallery 77 just across the street. The historic Cone Factory, once producing sweets and ice cream cones, also transforms into a biennial venue. Between Karaköy and Beyoğlu, the Garden of the Former French Orphanage offers visitors both a place to pause and an exhibition site, while on İstiklal Avenue, the iconic Elhamra Han—built in 1827 as one of Istanbul’s first theaters—hosts the biennial for the very first time. Karaköy’de ilk kez izleyiciye kapılarını açacak Zihni Han, şehrin ticaret ve zanaat tarihinden bugüne taşınan bir yapı olarak öne çıkıyor. Hemen yakınında bulunan, Meclis-i Mebusan Caddesi’ndeki bir bina da (no. 35) zemin katındaki galeriyle bienal mekânına dönüşüyor. Karaköy’ün tarihî dokusundaki bir diğer yapı ise Muradiye Han. 20. yüzyıl başlarından günümüze ulaşan hanın zemin katı, 2021’de tamamlanan restorasyonun ardından ilk kez bienale ev sahipliği yapacak. Here, design is not just about aesthetics but about crafting an environment that evolves with its inhabitants. A THOUGHTFUL COLLABORATION This project is the result of a long-term partnership between the owners and their trusted design team. Their shared vision has shaped a home where architectural elegance meets everyday comfort. The residence also serves as a showcase for the family’s expanding contemporary art collection, seamlessly integrating art into daily life. A HOME DESIGNED TO EVOLVE This generously proportioned 2,100 m² residence features a layout that adapts to the shifting rhythms of family life. The entrance opens into interconnected spaces where natural light highlights carefully curated materials. The main living areas unfold in a seamless flow, while a private suite ensures comfort for the homeowner’s mother. A dedicated spa area with a pool, hammam, and massage room adds an element of resort-like relaxation. Upstairs, the private quarters provide a peaceful retreat, while the attic serves as a space for creativity and leisure. Below ground, a wine cellar and thoughtfully designed storage solutions ensure effortless organization. UNDERSTATED LUXURY IN EVERY DETAIL Soft, earthy tones create a home that feels both elegant and inviting. Bespoke hand-painted wallpapers add depth and texture, while custom plaster panels by Tollis Studio in Paris introduce an artistic focal point in the spa, elevator, and master bedroom. Rich oak paneling and a built-in library enhance the sense of craftsmanship and warmth. A CURATED SELECTION OF DESIGN ICONS Throughout the home, carefully selected furnishings elevate the atmosphere. A custom Christophe Delcourt table makes a statement at the entrance, complemented by a gold-accented Lasvit chandelier. In the master dressing room, a striking white onyx bench by Charles Kalpakian blends function with artistry. The children’s rooms feature refined pieces by Pierre Yovanovitch, while the playroom is enriched with whimsical designs by Hubert Le Gall. Yasemin Arpaç ve Sabahattin Emir’in kurucusu olduğu Ofist tarafından ilk kez 2014’te yenilenen bu daire, yakın zamanda yine Ofist tarafından revize edilmiş. Yasemin Arpaç ikinci yenilemeyi şöyle anlatıyor: “2014’de evin sahibi Robert’la tanıştığımızda ilk isteği şu oldu: Daireyi orijinal haline çevirmek… Bu amaçla yola çıkmış ve ahşap doğramaları, döküm radyatör petekleri, yıpranmış eski rabıtaları, alçı duvar süslemeleri orijinal haline uygun olarak restore edip yenilemiştik. 10 yıl sonra Robert, biraz değişikliğe ihtiyacı olduğunu söyledi. Yenileme süreci ‘Acaba duvarların rengini biraz kreme mi çevirsek?’ sorusuyla başladı ve tüm duvar, tavan, kapı, kasa ve dolapların sıcak gri tonla boyanmasıyla sonuçlandı. Klasik yaklaşımdan uzaklaşan evin ‘yeni’ hissiyatı, tüm döşemelik kumaş ve perdelerin de aynı renk tonlarında değiştirilmesiyle devam etti. Bu dokunuşlar, dolap kulplarından masa üstü aksesuarlara kadar birçok detayın daha sade ürünlerle değiştirilmesiyle son buldu. İlk tasarımda mekanın özüne sadık, çok daha mütevazı tasarım müdahaleleri yapmıştık. İkinci tasarımda yine mekanın özüne sadık kaldık, ama bu kez güncel estetik anlayışına daha yakın bir tasarım yaklaşımını benimsedik. Evin ruhunu, karakterini hırpalamadan, yeterli ‘yenilik’ hissiyatını sağlamış olduk. Robert’ın, ‘Her seferinde kendimi yeni bir eve, yeni bir hayata gelmiş gibi hissediyorum’ yorumunda bulunması da bizim ayrıca mutluluk vericiydi”. 1 00 years ago, we are on the fourth floor of an old Istanbul apartment building designed by Apostol Mavradoğlu. This apartment was renovated for the first time in 2014 by Ofist, founded by Yasemin Arpaç and Sabahattin Emir, and recently renovated again by Ofist. Yasemin Arpaç describes the second renovation as follows: "When we met Robert, the owner of the house, in 2014, his first request was this: To restore the apartment to its original state... We set out to do just that, restoring and renovating the woodwork, the cast-iron honeycomb radiators, the old worn out fixtures, the plaster wall decorations to their original state. After 10 years, Robert said it needed a bit of a change. The renovation process began with the question, ‘Should we change the color of the walls to cream?’ and ended with painting all the walls, ceilings, doors, safes and cabinets a warm gray. The ‘new’ feel of the house, away from the classic approach, continued with the replacement of all upholstery and curtains in the same color. These touches ended with the replacement of many details, from cabinet handles to tabletop accessories, with simpler products. In the first design, we had made much more modest design interventions that were true to the essence of the space. In the second design, we were again faithful to the essence of the space, but this time we adopted a design approach that is closer to today's aesthetic understanding. We provided a sufficient sense of 'renewal' without destroying the spirit and character of the house. Robert's comment, 'Every time I come home, I feel like I've come to a new home, a new life' was also very pleasing to us”.

Soft contrasts and restrained industrial notes introduce depth without disturbing the overall calm. Conceived as an invitation to a slower rhythm of life, the atmosphere is measured, composed and quietly expressive. DESIGN APPROACH Designed by Dubai-based D’Ora Tokai Designs, the project reflects the studio’s focus on sculptural restraint and architectural clarity. Led by founder D’Ora Tokai, whose practice spans interior architecture, product design and fashion, the studio approaches residential interiors with a strong sense of cohesion. This was the third collaboration with the same family over five years, allowing the process to unfold with trust and creative alignment. The brief was direct: timeless, elegant, with a light industrial touch. Given full creative freedom, the house was stripped back and reworked through architectural interventions and a renewed material language. LOCATION Set within Dubai Hills Estate, one of the city’s most desirable residential communities, the home benefits from a rare balance of centrality and calm. Landscaped greenery and a suburban rhythm shape daily life here, echoing the interior’s quiet, grounded character. PALETTE AND MATERIALITY The palette is anchored in off-white tones and oak, with subtle contrast introduced through brushed stainless steel, Calacatta Vagli marble and warm-tinted glass. Colour is used sparingly and with intent, appearing as soft accents that animate the space without overwhelming it. Material choices prioritise longevity and touch. Oak herringbone floors ground the interiors, while marble, steel and black metal details introduce sculptural clarity and quiet contrast. FURNITURE AND LIGHTHING Furniture and objects throughout the home are largely designed or curated by the studio’s in-house brand, DOT Objects. Sculptural marble and glass tables, a modular sofa system and a bespoke handwoven rug establish a cohesive visual language. These custom pieces are layered with selected international designs, including the Wegner CH07 Shell Chair. Lighting from brands such as Roll & Hill, Luxxe Light, Ebarza and Juglana is treated architecturally, adding rhythm and depth rather than ornament. A MEASURED WAY OF LIVING Rather than relying on strong gestures, the interior finds its strength in restraint. Architecture, material and furniture work together in a calm composition that supports everyday life—quietly functional, considered and enduring.

Set within a 1918 building in the leafy 16th arrondissement, the space gracefully blends architectural heritage with a tailored modern rhythm, reflecting Silvestry’s distinct approach to timeless Parisian interiors. “I wanted the studio to feel calm, soulful, and quietly elegant,” she says. “It’s not just where we work—it’s a place that inspires us every day.” LOVE, LIGHT, AND A BIT OF SERENDIPITY The studio occupies a corner of Paris Lichelle had admired for years. “I always dreamed of living on this street,” she recalls. “One Sunday, we passed by and saw a tiny ‘For Sale’ sign in the window. By Monday, we were the first to visit—and the decision felt immediate, almost inevitable.” With soaring ceilings, generous light, and the rare presence of a gated garden, the space felt like a hidden gem. “It had soul,” she adds. “Exactly what I wanted to cultivate—for myself, and for my team.” A RESIDENTIAL APPROACH TO WORKSPACE DESIGN The six-month transformation was a full renovation, yet nothing about the final space feels overdesigned. “We approached it like we do a home,” says Silvestry. “The layout was shaped with a residential mindset first—function followed.” The result is a studio that balances openness and intimacy, creating a seamless dialogue between work and life. A STUDY IN PARISIAN REFINEMENT Every detail tells a story: a reclaimed limestone threshold, parquet floors, a fireplace sourced from the Marché aux Puces, and hand-finished brass hardware all nod to craftsmanship and permanence. “The goal was quiet luxury,” she explains. “A space that reflects the care and intention we bring to every project.” A Baccarat lantern from the 1920s became a central reference point, inspiring several bespoke pieces from Silvestry’s own furniture collection. An 18th-century tapestry informed the overall palette. Antique mirrors, custom joinery, and richly layered textures complete the picture—traditional yet fresh, understated but unforgettable. “Timeless Parisian interiors are a dance between classical heritage and personal narrative,” says Silvestry. “You need strong bones, yes—but also softness, intuition, and a touch of boldness.” In her studio, that philosophy comes to life through contrasts: a sculptural Art Deco console sits near a sleek Modulnova kitchen; period Louis XV chairs meet modern silhouettes and moody leathers. The balance is precise but never rigid—every corner is intentional, but still lived-in. LOOKING OUT, LOOKING AHEAD From her desk, Silvestry now gazes out onto the very street she once imagined calling home. “It feels like the beginning of something,” she smiles. “This studio may be the dream realized—but in Paris, the next chapter is always just around the corner.”

Nisan 2020 | Art | Türkiye Online açılış yapan İstanbullu sergi Yazı | Alp Tekin K orona günlerinde sanatın da dijitale taşınmasıyla ilginç deneyimlerden geçiyoruz. Bu orijinal deneyimlerden birini de İstanbullu bir galeri yaşattı: Pg Art Gallery. Şimdi olayı başa saralım ve hikayeyi bizzat Pg Art Gallery’nin sahibi Pırıl Güleşçi Arkonmaz’dan dinleyelim: “Ayla Turan’ın ‘Tehlikeli Oyunlar’ ve Ömer Faruk Yaman’ın ‘Voyager’ başlıklı sergilerini 21 Mart Cumartesi günü yapacağımız açılışla sanatseverlerle buluşturmayı planlamış ve çok çalışmıştık. Ancak içinde bulunduğumuz şartlar değişince sanatçılar ve galeri ekibiyle aldığımız kararşu oldu: Açılışları ertelemek yerine her iki serginin de kurulumlarını tamamlayarak açılışları “online”, yani izleyicisiz bir şekilde gerçekleştirmek! Sergiler için video çekimleri yaptık. Sanatçılarımız işlerini anlattılar. Dünyanın birçok metropolünde sanat kurumlarının düzenlediği ‘online sergi’lerden farklı olarak Türkiye’de bir ilki gerçekleştirerek bir mekana bağlı kalmadan online açılış yaptık. Açılış günü sanatsever dostlarımızın tebrik mesajları ile güne başladık. Sanatçılarımız Ayla Turan ve Ömer Faruk Yaman Pg Art Gallery Instagram hesabı üzerinden sırayla kendi stüdyolarından canlı yayın bağlantıları yaparak sanatseverlerle buluştu. Aynı zamanda web sitemiz, facebook, twitter ve youtube hesaplarımızdan sergiler ile ilgili videolar, kataloglar ve görseller sanatseverlerin erişimine açıldı. Hepimiz için çok ayrı heyecan taşıyan bir açılış oldu. Sanatçılarımızdan Ayla Turan duygu ve düşüncelerini ‘Herkesin morale ihtiyacı olduğu böyle bir dönemde çok yoğun bir ilgi oldu. Bu süreçte yalnız olmadığımızı görmek inanılmaz güzeldi’ şeklinde aktardı. Ömer Faruk Yaman ise süreci ve heyecanını ‘Online bir sergi açılışı yapmak tam da zamanın ruhuna uygun bir yaklaşımdı’ diyerek ifade etti.
